The Appalachian Highlands Celts will be hosting our annual Upper East TN Celtic Festival. Our event will be held at Tipton Haynes State Historic site at 2620 S Roan St, Johnson City. It will start on Friday August 30 at 7PM with the calling of the clans and a small reception afterwards. The main festival activity will start on Saturday August 31 with our officially judged Highland games hosted by Southeastern Highland Athletics Group (S.H.A.G.). Highland games start at 8am and festival vendors will be open at 10am. The festival will include local artisans, including but not limited to wood working, jewelry making, and blacksmithing, as well as food vendors. On Sunday September 1, the festival will start at 10:00am. There will be sword play and highland game workshops the entire day as well as a very special performance by Everblade Academy. We will have guest speakers this year on both August 31 and September 1 giving presentations on Celtic history. Saturday and Sunday will feature live music. We have a great lineup of Celtic bands as well as the Knoxville Pipe and Drum. We hope you will come out and experience Celtic culture, learn about your Celtic heritage, speak to the clans being represented and enjoy all we have to offer at our fun-packed family-friendly festival.
