A rare Elvis Presley guitar sold for big bucks at auction this weekend and set a new record for Elvis memorabilia.
Elvis owned the 1942 Martin D-18 guitar from 1954 to 1956. It sold for $1,320,000, making it the most expensive Elvis guitar ever sold.
Elvis purchased the guitar O.K. Houck’s Piano Store in Memphis and later decorated it with metal letters spelling out his name, although the “S” is now missing. He reportedly recorded “That’s Alright (Mama),” “Blue Moon of Kentucky” and “Good Rockin’ Tonight” on it.
