Terri Clark Gets Handwritten Note From Barbara Mandrell After Opry Performance

Terri Clark performed at the Grand Ole Opry this past weekend and picked Barbra Mandrell’s “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool” for her throwback song. Well, apparently the cover didn’t go unnoticed by Barbara herself.

Terri shared on Instagram that Barbara sent her a handwritten note. “Your performance was fantastic and you looked gorgeous last night,” Barbara wrote. “I am so proud and I thank you very much. God bless you and keep you safe and well.”

And Terri couldn’t quite get over the gesture. “I sang a throwback tune by a childhood hero on Saturday night’s @opry,” she shared. “Today I went to my mailbox and found what my 13-year old self would have only dreamed about. A handwritten card from the legend who made the song a classic …” She added, “thank YOU for being an early inspiration to me @barbaramandrellmusic @circleallaccess #classact #iwascountrywhencountrywasntcool #dying”
