CanJoe*John has been a professional entertainer, musician, music historian, and storyteller for more than three decades. He started working in radio in 2000. Beginning January of 2016, CanJoe*John created and began the "Mountain Matinee" program (Saturday afternoons, Noon-3). It showcases Appalachian Americana music genres of the region on 96.3 The Possum.

His weekly Saturday afternoon broadcast program features and showcases as live in-studio performances, interviews, and presentations of their select recorded tracks, the very best-of-the-best of local, regional, nationally, and internationally known musicians, bands, artists, and singer-songwriters who exemplify the diverse genres, styles, and sounds of the Southern Appalachian region's music.
