BRISTOL, Va. – How can sandy shards and stones from 2,000-4,000 years ago mean anything to people living in the 21st century? The inaugural Biblically Grounded Archaeology Experience set for Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12, will quickly clear up that question and amaze attendees with the latest archaeological finds in the Land of the Bible that help illuminate Scripture, making it even more meaningful in a tangible way.

The two-day conference, presented by Southwest Radio Ministries, will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 190 Salem Drive, Bristol, Va.

Most of the event presenters are fresh from an Associates for Biblical Research dig at Shiloh near Jerusalem, just getting back to the U.S. at the end of June, escaping Israel by crossing the border into Egypt on foot, through the same wilderness the Israelites crossed 3,400 years ago.

Featured speakers include Tommy Chamberlin, archaeologist and museum director; Dr. Douglas Petrovich, Bible scholar, archaeologist and epigrapher, who studies ancient inscriptions; Dr. Scott Stripling, ABR dig director and Bible scholar; Abigail Van Huss, assistant dig director for ABR and Bible scholar; Bryan Windle, archaeologist, pastor and Bible scholar; and Clayton Van Huss.

The event will also feature a mobile museum of over 50 ancient artifacts – including some that can be handled – that Chamberlin, an attorney in Kentucky, has been collecting for decades. Another highlight of the event, Van Huss says, will be the Holy Land Treasures store, where all the items are directly from Israel, crafted out of natural woods and oils from the Promised Land.

Children are welcome to come learn and experience with their parents, says Matthew Hill, Southwest Ministries CEO. “This is truly a one-of-a-kind event, and we are thrilled to debut it in the Tri-Cities,” Hill says.

Admission for the two-day event is $50. Accompanied children under 12 are free. Discounts are available for groups of five or more. Livestream access is also available at swrc.lightcast.com. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with opening remarks by Southwest Radio Ministries CEO Matthew Hill at 8:45 a.m. Lunch break is at 12:15 p.m. and sessions conclude at 5:30 p.m. For more details or to register, visit swrc.com/events or call 1-800-652-1144.
